5 days until the new school semester starts...
Just 5 days...

It seems so sudden when I look at it that way, but I've had weeks to prepare for this moment. Weeks to pay for classes, buy my overpriced college textbooks, and schedule car pools. Yet...despite all this, it seems so sudden and overwhelming for school to be starting again. In a way, I'm kinda tired of waiting for it and just want to get back into the swing of it all, but I also can't help but feel apprehension that I'm starting over in a new campus where I don't know any of the teachers, where their rooms are, or what the parking permits look like. (or really...where the campus is. This needs to be rectified immediately...)

Wish me luck please!

Why would you go to the funeral for one of your 'friend's - whose dad has just died - and make fun of them behind their back? I mean, I can understand some light teasing to try and lighten the mood a bit, but outright insults? Seriously people. Do the words "common decency" and "emotional maturity" mean nothing to people around here?

Also, I find it amusing that I am apparently the only one at my college without a "Ms." in front of my name on my online log-in. o.O Wtf.

So, I just finished two Lab Quizzes in BIO. I made two 100s! Yay! X3
So now I'm currently leeching internet from the school and waiting for 1 o'clock to roll around so I can head off to Nationals. I really should be working on my HIS midterm that's due tonight but.... I don't really wanna.
I'm a bit annoyed at that class right now because I made a 7/8 on my last paper for some reason. >< The teacher hasn't responded about the grade yet, but he said that my midterm sounded very well thought out so far when I asked him about the line "historical legacy" he wanted us to write about.

In other news, I went to Wal-Mart last night to pick up some more of my powdered drink mix for the trip, and I managed to find myself in an alise that was compromised of toilet paper and chocolate.... o.O
I have absolutely NO IDEA what those two items have in common, but ooookay Wal-Mart, if you say so.
And to top it all off, they didn't have my Strawberry-Kiwi mix. They had everything BUT. X# So, I had to get up earlier than normal this morning so I could head to the other Wal-Mart and buy my drink mixes at 5 o'clock in the morning. As cool as it is to watch the floor waxer guys bop along the ailse, I would have preferred to sleep in a little more.
AND GOSH DARN IT, I forgot my lunch this morning too on my way out. DX It suuuucked. ;~; I had to buy a lunchable just so I would have something cheap because my current monetary claim is $4. I also forgot my cream puffs as well. *sniff* Luckily, they were in the fridge when I left, so they won't dry out too fast. Maybe they'll still be good when I get back next week? Maybe?

Speaking of Nationals, I managed to get thrice as many points yesterday during practice than I normally do. ^^ I was extremely proud of myself for that. Especially since one of them was "xkcd". XD

Also, my Asian Philosphical Calendar Thingy... (shut-up) bas been giving me some awesome quotes lately. They've managed to spin off about a ka-gillion new ideas for HP plots. XD

What is evil but good tortured by its own hunger and thirst? I mean really, does no one else see the TMR sloughed all over that line?
Freedom is a state of mind-not freedom from something. Harry and his being manipulated by Dumbledore anyone?
Amoung the most remarkable features characterizing Zen, we find these: spirituality, directness of expression, disregard of form or conventionalism, and frequently an almost wanton delight in going astray from respectability. Sirius Black! "an almost wanton delight in going astray" fits him perfectly. Hmmm, Cait needs to read this one, it might help her in NR.
We do not learn by experience, but by our capacity for experience. Idk on this one, it's just awesome!
As one lamp serves to dispel a thousand years of darkness, so one flash of wisdom destroys ten thousand years of ignorance. Totally epic quote that would serve as a great 'Harry learns the truth and comes back stronger than expected' story.

Hmm, I still have half an hour before we leave. Guess I better go get started on my HIS midterm so the team won't yell at me on the trip down. (I totally have a DC adaptor for my laptop though so I can work on it during the 5 hour+ trip)

As a parting gift, I leave you with a snippet of the rough copy of the beginning of Ghosts of the Past, a Naruto fanfic I've been steadily chipping away at in my free time.

Ghosts of the Past Prologue Part I ♥ )

If anyone wants to read/see more, I'll explain more about it.
Till next week (or earlier if I slack off and sneak back over here ;P), I hope you enjoy the snippet! And wish me luck at Nationals if you care to please! ♥

Some days, I am amazed at my own ineptitude. Seriously.
I was practicing two days ago for the tournament that I read today and noted that, because of where I live right now, my speech patterns and diction have gone very far downhill. I was stumbling over names and I swear I slurred the word "fifteen" at least ten times. I also misplaced some of my pauses and rushed other parts. DX I also have recently noticed that my short-term memory is no where near as good as it used to be. It's so sad, and these failings just make me feel so frustrated at myself.

Onto better news!
After I read my first set, the guy whom I am more and more confident that he likes me came up after the teams had all left and said that I did very good for my first time and he was pleasantly surprised. We also had fun commenting on how stupid/annoying the teams were. We also got into a staple fight. XD So childish I know. But I can confidantly say he started it when he began popping them at me during break.
A few others also told me that I did well reading. It kinda makes up for my current self-disappointment that I didn't seem to do as badly as I did. (I don't think they realized that I ended up improv-ing some parts of the questions when I misread them. "were at one time called" got changed to "were called at one time" type stuff)

After we finished the tournament, the guy (I really should just start naming him), drove us out to a pizza buffet place. He seemed astonished that I had never been to one before. ^^ It was okay, but buffet is really wasted on me since I have a small stomach and only ate like 3 pieces... He also paid for my meal since I only had $9 on me, and I still have to get gas like SOON.
So yea, a guy who works at Burger King wouldn't just pay for someone's meal on a complete whim would he? Cause if BK gives that good of wages, I'm about to go see if they are hiring. XD I'm currently looking up some good recipies to make him a batch of cookies to say thank you for all the nice stuff he's done for me.
He has also volunteered (without prompting!) to help me write my horrendous 5-6 page history paper due next week.  He definantly deserves something.
I guess I should also mention that I am currently driving him up the wall because I called him "interesting" and refuse to explain myself. XD

So I have like 3 pages worth of History papers to go BS now. -_____- Meh. It's not that I don't like history, it's that I don't like writing papers for it based on someone else's terms. I can write an epic paper on the Tokugawa Shogunate, but "Imperialism in Africa"? I didn't even know Africa had imperialism... -_-;; And the paper is due in 7 hours... Heh...
I also have midterms next week. F!CK. xE

EDIT: My mother bought pizza tonight for everyone... The ironies of life strike again XD

So, I have decided that my scholar's bowl team is decidedly stupid despite being some of the smartest people in our area. (Not kidding, our team captian is nationally ranked, and I have yet to see him take home anything less than a 1st place trophy for individual scores o.O)
We were waiting for out sponser to get back to the bus this morning so we could head to the tournament, and due to our randomness of conversation, I learned that none of them knew what pansexual meant. I mean really. It's not that out there, not like demisexual or gray-a. They also missed a question on Canada Day. Although, that may just be my Candian-ness getting upset there... XD
We managed to come in second. It kinda sucked, but since it's generally a toss-up between us and this one other school, it's not that bad. We didn't lose to like a no-name school or anything. And it did come down to a tie-breaker.

We also have to have one of the most bi-polar teammates ever. She started getting upset that the others were buzzing in before her and so she just put her head down, and when she actually knew the answers on bonuses, she wouldn't tell. Like, hell, grrl. It's a TEAM sport, not an individual. Just cause they give trophys for individual performance doesn't mean you drag the whole team down with you. XE She also stomped out of the room when the donut box wouldn't open... We all just stayed away from her the rest of the time, we thought she might stab us or something.
Then, on the way home, she was fine. Bi-polar scary. (is it ironic that bi-polar was an answer to one of today's questions? XD)

I am also still of the opinion that the one guy on my team likes me. He called me/my actions cute at least 3 times today. He also cleared my car off of snow when we got back to the school to pick up our vehicles and go home. It was actually really sweet. ♥ I was over by my car using my hand/sweater to clear the mounds of snow off (thus freezing my hand in the process DX) and he pulls this towel out of the trunk of his car and comes over and wipes off my windows for me.
Then we all got into a snow fight while waiting for our cars to warm up. He rubbed a handful of snow in my hair, someone else threw a wad at his neck, then he retaliated and threw some around randomly and it somehow manages to get down my shirt. Everyone laughed. I haven't had a good snow fight in forever. XD
He also tried to teach me how to have a pillow fight last night since I've never had a pillow fight before. I didn't really understand it though, so one of the other guys jumped across the beds and started to fight him. It was entertaining to watch. XD They were hopping and rolling all around the room.

I have also discovered a new band that is pretty awesome. Alter Bridge. I totally recommend "Ties That Bind". It's such an imaginative song. Expecially for HP. ♥ ♥

Another great piece of recent news. ... I just finished my HIS papers. XD Yes, I left myself 3 hours to write 2 papers. But hey, I wasn't planning on getting snowed in, nor on the internet at the hotel we stayed at being so crappy. It kept cutting out every few minutes. DX Also, my laptop was the only one that could get signal for any great length of time. So, yay FRED, but srsly ppls. Get some good internet at your hotel.
And clean your coffee pot ocassionally. DX

I should probably be working on Duskborn now, but my fingers hurt like hell. Have you ever stuck your hand in an ant hill before? My hand kinda feels like that. DX Burning pain with little stinging bites all over, plus, I can't bend my fingers very far right now. I'm hoping some sleep will make it all better, cause my deadline for V&Vs is tomorrow, and although Cait has done the bulk, I don't want it to be crappy like my last thrown together chapter. -.-

*distraction*Okay, that was the coolest vest/jacket that I have ever seen. I don't know know what my housemate is watching, but this girl was wearing this red leather vest thing with brown sleeves, and when her gun ran out of bullets, she unzipped her sleeves upwards and pulled out a bow. X3 That was sooo cool. I want one of those.*/distraction*
kitefullofkoi: Badou from DOGS. text: living stingy (Default)

So after spamming the Duskborn Community with new posts, my hands are finally tiring out. Plus, I'm wokring from my room, so my laptop is at like waist level and it's KILLING my wrists.

I worked a little bit on the new!Harry pic for Duskborn inbetween doing laundry and cleaning the kitchen (seriously, am I a maid on my days off or something?),and I finally finished the shading for his skin. It's a bit too gray yet, so I need to pull a Hue/Sat on it to goldenize it, but that won't take long. Then I just need to shade in the drapes, give him actual hair instead of a placeholder, and stick in some background elements, and it will FINALLY be done. x.x This picture has been killing me with the angles and the lighting.

Evan Harrison (in progess and balding o.O) )

In other news, I found a new manga series (only 4 chapters long so far) that is pretty interesting. I have no idea if it has been discontinued or what since there is noupdate schedule for it, but it's really cool from the 32 pages I've been able to read so far. This is the main point why having dial-up kills me sometimes. It has taken over 2 hours to read 32 pages. -______- Oh! It's called "Are You Alice?" btw. I have a little obsession with Alice in Wondderland and the Cheshire Cat, as Cait can tell you. That obsession has recently been brought back to life too with a new plot for an HP fic. ^^ I have all the details on my blogspot and won't bother repeating them here.
Anyways (got off topic real easily there...) what with dial-up taking forever, I've been saving each page image by image and will most likely bein doing several new icons for the series as I wait for the next page/chapter to load. It's got some pretty art.

I really wanna know if Go Comi! is going to release the next volume of Yggdrasil... DX I love that series. ♥

School sucks. Soooo bad. I have to go tomorrow and I most assuredly don't want to see my art teacher. She's so SENILE! Has she never heard of retirement? Luckily, what with all the ideas for fanart that I have and the fact that I'm one of her favorites (oh why must I talk back to her when she talks to me?!?), she lets me get by with most anything I want to do. As long as I follow the general guideline of the exercise, I'm good. And seriously, what can't you do when she says "do something with perspective"? Say hello to some new room drawings for my various fanfiction. I can't wait till she starts on eyes and noses and stuff. I'll be able to draw some more humanoid fanart then instead of the landscapes I've been doing.
She's also under the impression that I know how to do calligraphy. Why? o.O
kitefullofkoi: Badou from DOGS. text: living stingy (sharing)

Gasp! Two posts in one day! X3

So, I have a question that's been bugging me lately. If a guy compliments you on your shoes and hair (different days), drives you across campus to your car every day, volunteers to give you a drumstick from his favorite band for free (he's going to stand in line for hours just to get in), and generally stands close to you (aka: inside your personal bubble), does that mean he likes you? o.O

Also, the swatches function in PS is totally awesome. I've only started using it since lunchtime today, but it ROCKS. X33 I can't believe I haven't been using it before now. (kinda like Caits and masking XP) I'm about 40% done on another Duskborn fanart piece since I confused my art teacher into letting me use my computer all class. (She didn't know what a pixel was. FAIL.) It's definantly a challenge learning to colour in PS instead of SAI. Much harder, and I have to be more aware of my entire screen.

Since Caits and I are behind on actually writing Duskborn, I've decided to try and self-motivate myself by putting a shirtless-standing-in-the-rain!Draco above my plot board. That way I'll look at it more often. XD If that fails, I don't know what to do.

I've managed to re-discover my love for 30 Seconds to Mars recently. Completely by accident. I found an old cd I had burned a long time ago (years), and decided to listen to it since I had shuffled through all my recent music. So it starts playing and I'm like "What is this? Hey, it's actually pretty awesome." I then spent several moments trying to get the artist name to display on my cd player. When I finally did, it was like "Huh, I didn't know I had anything by them. Still cool though." And that is the way my mind works... XD
I've also found two new artists that are really cool too. Halestorm is a rock type band that has awesome music. Plus, the lead singer is very pretty and has an interetsing voice. The other is Lily Allen. She's a bit odd, but so fun to listen to. She is most definantly pro-homosexual, and her songs show that in some of the lyrics. "Let me be your fag hag and you can be my gay" being one example. XD
kitefullofkoi: Badou from DOGS. text: living stingy (ogn)
So, I'm totally not doing what I'm supposed to be doing and am instead writing this blog post. Art class is over-rated anyways. XP

So, I made my FMA t-shirt yesterday. A few notes of interest for anyone making a t-shirt tranfer t-shirt:
1. DO NOT USE A COOKIE SHEET AS AN IRONING BOARD. It gets very hot and can burn your hand when you take it out of the shirt.
2. It helps if you actually turn on the iron before swinging it across your shirt....
3. When you print out your design, use the 'High Quality' setting of your printer so you get more ink. More ink = better inmage transfer.

XDD Yea, I learned all that yesterday doing my FMA shirt. (and shush, I haven't done a t-shirt transfer in a several months xp) Other than that, the shirt actually turned out pretty well. I was surprised and happy. I'll be posting a pic on DA later so Caits can see it since she has to work Kindergarden today and couldn't come meet me. ;_;

I just discovered that DA had PS swatches for download as well as brushes! It's so cool and amazing! ♥ ♥ I've been raping the internet the past two days getting me some fonts, brushes, bases, and now swatch sets. Be prepared, I'm about to spam with new icons, backgrounds, and headers. XD I've fallen into experimentation heaven.

Until laters (my art teacher is heading back my way DX).
kitefullofkoi: Badou from DOGS. text: living stingy (nyah)
I so totally just learned the most AWESOME thing about Photoshop eva! xDDD

So, like, Windows 7 was being a b!tch and refusing to let me run my copy of CS2 on my laptop. I was all like 'Ha-ell NO!' and tried to run a compatability mode with it. It zigged when I zagged and shot me down again. x.x By this time (two days since I started), I was kinda pissed; add this to the fact that I dislike Windows 7 anyway cause it's ugly, and you have a recipe for disaster.
Today, I decided 'to hell with it' and got out my copy of CS3 and decided to just put IT in my laptop. I got it installed fine, and I got past the first part of activation. Until... it asked for my 2.3 Upgrade serial number. My disc has no number. I have the serial number for the 2.3 installation of Adobe, and the DreamWeaver serial number, not the 2.3 upgrade serial number itself. Seriously ready to throw my laptop against the wall, I called tech support to get it sorted out. Surprisingly, I got a helpful guy on the other end. It was then I found out the most awesome thing about Photoshop. YOU CAN CHALLENGE PHOTOSHOP FOR ACTIVATION! XDD
The tech support guy got me through the first screen, and then through some fancy finger configuration, I ended up in a screen giving me a challenge number and asking for a response number. IT WAS SO F-ING AWSOME! Needless to say, I now (fianlly) have a fully functional version of Photoshop on my laptop that I can use. ♥ ♥

I'll be messing around making icons in my spare time at school now. XD Take that stupid art teacher who won't teach us anything! (I've finished some awesome Duskborn stuff in her class though.)
kitefullofkoi: Badou from DOGS. text: living stingy (sharing)
So after nearly getting run over Tuesday, today's day of class wasn't that bad. It still sucked though. SUCKED. Luckily I remembered my cd player this time and I was able to drown out the stupidty that is my art teacher. During lunch break, I got to teach the new students how to do stuff since our teacher can't be bothered to stop preaching and just generally not explaining things to actually do anything. Like her JOB.

I drew two new pcitures for Duskborn though. ^^ A set of Esthre vampires and what shall eventually be Orion when I get around to finishing his robe. I even have a little side-story about the Orion picture. That may actually turn into a chapter if we get desperate enough. XD
Yesterday Cait and I finally went and saw New Moon for the first time (we were desperate, neither of us own the books and we needed some cute werewolves to play with). It was actually really good. Having a new director has really helped. I loved the camera angles and the pan shots. Much less like a Discovery channel special and more like an actual movie. The special effects were awesome too. Vamps are finally cool again. Except Edward, he still fails.
Jacob was amazingly cute though. X3 Back when I was a Twilight fan (back when it was orginally released), I was more of a Jacob fan anyway, and he definately lived up to my expectations. Cait and I both got distracted wacthing the raindrops fall off his ears, hair, and over his shoulders to notice some parts of the film, but well, anyone who has seen the movie can agree with up. XD
After the movie, during our normal critique/brainstorming session, we came up with the MOST AWESOMENESS IDEA EVA. But I can't tell you what it is yet. XP It'll show up in about twenty chapters in a certain house in Forks... This is just to let you guys know that we do actually plan this thing out, we don't just write whatever, whenever.
We still haven't paired Draco with anyone yet, but I have a few ideas. ~.^

Currently, I'm trying to  finish up the last four chapters of CinderAllen so I can focus on Duskborn and Caged Bird (which, yays, I actually have outlined but not written yet). Cross is being a drunk, and I still have to write a cute scene with Tyki/Allen. And considering I haven't done anything with DGM in months...this will be interesting. I have also lost my VHS player, so no watching Cinderella to see how the orginal story ends.

Sighs, off to write like 6 new chapters of fanfiction in five hours. Fangirl gods help me.
